Aktiv Player

Traditional media players do not offer enough features for sorting music. Most of them include fast search functions, but the loaded audio files are scattered throughout the playlist. Aktiv Player can sort your music by artist and album and it allows you to create multiple playlists. The best part is that you only need to load your audio files and the application will categorize them instantly.

Aktiv Player is freeware and you can use it on all popular Windows platforms, including Windows 8. The setup file is 7.20 MB and it takes only a few moments to install the application. Unfortunately, you have to install a toolbar and make a series of changes to your web browser, otherwise you will not be able to complete the installation process.

You can manage your media library, currently playing songs, individual playlists and more, in separate sections of Aktiv Player's interface, which can be accessed via navigation tabs, on the left side of the window. When you import your audio files, you will find them neatly organized, in the media library, according to their artists and albums. You can choose to show all files or select an artist or an album, to filter the files by these criteria.

If you want to add certain files to your library at a later date or if you don't want to add them at all, you can import them in a library of collected items, which is similar to the main library. Currently playing tracks and queued items can be found in a different section of the interface. The software allows you to import radio stations as well, which can be found in their own section.

Playlists can be created on the left side of the interface, beneath the navigation tabs. You may create simple playlists and populate them with audio files, by clicking and dragging them to a playlist. Alternatively, you can select a series of dynamic playlists, which display your last played songs, recently added files, favorite artists or albums. It is also possible to create new dynamic playlists, by typing a query, with user defined SQL statements, on a separate window.
